Last days in Amsterdam
Published by Katie June 19th, 2007 in AlbaniaAs we had spent four days in Amsterdam at the beginning of our two week trip, Ben and I arrived back in the city ready to revisit and roam the beautiful, canal lined streets.
Typical Amsterdam houses and buildings - upright in their various degrees:
Check out the building above, to the right. Some of them lean majorly to one side due to the muddy, unstable ground they’ve been built upon.
We stopped here for dessert our last night.
A Dutch specialty - apple torte with nuts and raisins. This and other treats we ate throughout the entire trip powered us throughout the miles and miles we walked every day.
Bourbon Street - a place with live music every day of the week. Ken, wish you could have been with us!
The steep, steep stairs up to our room at our bed and breakfast in Amsterdam. Talk about needing to use the handrail! The stairways in Dutch houses are so steep and narrow that furniture needs to be hoisted up into the rooms through windows.
A lone bike parked along one of the canal bridges.
Current currencies … not so fun, but you can’t not travel just because of the tough Euro to dollar rate. Travel, travel, travel!
