Lunch at the Kaceli’s
Published by Katie May 26th, 2007 in Albania
On our way to their house.

I knew this was going to be one of the highlights - it was a given.
Zaku and Julia, Anila, Esti and Teri plus Anila’s sister and her family. Add five from the Silus/Menne party and it was a party, indeed!

We sat in the ‘company’ room for an hour or so, talking and laughing (through translations and head nods and smiles).

Julia prepared my favorite foods. We’d made a menu the week before my family came and Julia more than outdid herself.

You are an amazing cook, Julia!
Zaku was in full swing, with his wit and jokes and never-ending offers of more food, more wine, more raki, more laughs.
Zaku and Dave got along great - there seemed to be no language barrier strong enough to separate the two.

Zaku toasting to my father’s brothers, their health and the health of their families. It was a long one!
Lauren was loved by all:

Lauren, Joli, and Ana - the little nieces.

Katie, Jeta (Anila’s sister, Zaku’s middle daughter) and Esti.

Zaku’s last request before saying goodbye to my family was for Dave to write him a letter or two once he gets back to America. Cute!
A huge thank you to the Kaceli Family - we could eat a four hour lunch with you every week. Thank you for being so good to me and my family. Amazing!
