Good, busy times

Model UN Group I have a full schedule these days, which is how I like it. These students are part of one activity that has recently arisen over the past month. James and I are working with these students to prepare for a mock Model UN conference in September. We’ll be representing Peru and our job (more the students’ … as James and I serve as their coaches) from now until September is to learn all about Peru and think as Peruvians at the conference. About ten other teams around the country, led by other volunteers, are also participating.

Local Model UN Meeting place Our meeting spot for Model UN meetings for the time being.

My very first school year as ‘teacher’ is coming to a close. And in honor of the fourth year class that will graduate in May, we’re putting together a first ever ‘yearbook’ as we do in American schools. I’ve been playing photographer and coordinator for the yearbook over the past few weeks.

…Hoping to put this on my resume once I’m back in the US job searching?!

Some of the photos I’ve snapped:

School making copies Couldn’t pass up this moment … as Lenitza (school secretary) and I spent a lot (an hour or so) of time making 18 copies. Having to turn the copy machine on and off after each copy will stretch out the production time quite nicely. But I greatly appreciate the copy machine access, no matter how slow or tedious or jammed the paper gets.

Last but not least: I’m preparing and making arrangements for four very special American visitors! My mom, dad, sister, and brother-in-law will arrive at Rinas airport this Saturday, in full form after eating gelato and seeing the sites in Rome. Can’t wait to have them here. They’re in for a ride! Documentation to come …
