Success at ‘the gabi’
Published by Katie April 20th, 2007 in AlbaniaMy Albanian readers will appreciate my bringing up ‘the gabi.’ I am always sure to get a giggle out of anyone when I tell them that this or that article of clothing was purchased at the gabi.
The gabi refers to the section of outdoor markets where people sell used clothes, shoes, toys, you name it. It’s a cheap and interesting way to build up your wardrobe due to some of the gems you can find if you dig deep enough and go into it with patience.
Some of Peace Corps’ finest were quite successful at Berat’s gabi this past weekend. Their t-shirt collection not only expanded, but now includes eBay worthy articles.
Good work, James and Evan. We’re all proud!
What a pair.
The Clash and R.E.M. - hang on to those shirts, boys.
Does it get much better than this?
