Around town
Published by Katie February 5th, 2007 in Albania
Just a few views from around Berat on a Sunday afternoon …
If you look carefully, you can see the little shop where I pick up my mail. It’s right behind the lamp post … there is a small group of people just to the right of it. My host aunt works there, and so naturally the post office brings my letters and package slips to her. She phones my host family, who live right up the road, and news eventually makes it to me that snail mail - or coveted goods! - has arrived in my name.
’qofte’ or sausage grill for those who crave that sort of thing.
’Apartamenti Commonus’ - the common apartment
One of the many vibrantly painted schools in Albania - this one sits right in the center of Berat. You can find me here every Saturday for debate practice.
The ‘Old Stadium,’ which is right across the street from the high school. Muddy yet popular, there are soccer games going on here most days.
