A hike in the hills of Berat
Published by Katie October 22nd, 2006 in AlbaniaRay, a fellow Peace Corps volunteer from group 8, graciously guided us on a lovely 3-hour hike on Thursday.
I’m going strong on a 5-day weekend, due to Mother Theresa’s birthday on Thursday and then Friday was off for my school (many students live in the dorms and they’d gone home for Thursday). Then Saturday and Sunday are a given, plus Monday for a Muslim holiday. Five full days - and this is how it all started.

I was on a lot of unfamiliar territory, not to mention I got to see new views and perspectives of otherwise familiar places here in Berat.
Mount Tomori looked beautiful - it was a perfectly clear morning to see it along with the surrounding mountains and hills:

Through olive groves and along sheep hearding trails we went …

If you look hard enough … and know where to look … you can see the houses inside the castle from this far off glance. Like I said before, cool for us to see these familiar places from a comletely different perspective.
Ahh … real excersise … in nature … on a beautiful day. I miss this has a constant in my life!
