My sitemate, James, turned 28 on October 2nd.  Ben and I were traveling and so we made plans to get everyone together (PC volunteers who live close by, plus newcomer Ben) for sleu of progressive birthday festivities on the Thursday after his real birthday.

Things started around 3pm.  Ben and I “started” at about 1pm with a huge lunch at the Kaceli’s.  But lunch #1 meant there was a lunch #2 coming and so we made our way to Ersa’s house with James and Juliet (PCV in town next door) to make our infamous byrek/apple pie in honor of James’ birthday. 

With the efforts of Ersa, Mira, and I we made yet another successful apple pie.  This could be another business endeavor like the peanut butter … Thanksgiving is just around the corner - we just need to master making a pumpkin filling.

Ersa had also prepared a traditional tomatoe byrek and as you’ll see from the photos it was a complete spread of food.   Lunch #2 was served!

We became a big group and moved on to the hotel where Ben and I were staying - also one of our favorite wine/eating spots (Tomi’s Hotel).

More food and more sweets appeared …

as some likes his birthday … and round three of eating and drinking came around!

Happy Birthday James!  We’ll see if we can top all of this next year …
