Gezuar Ditelindjen Anila! U Befsh 100 vjec …
Published by Katie August 15th, 2006 in Albania
Miresevini (Welcome!) and Gezuar Ditelindjen (Happy Brithday!) signs plus balloons gave guests a taste for what was inside … good people, good food and drinks, dancing and visiting.
Such a great celebration - my host mom turned 35 last weekend and an excellent party at the Kaceli household came along with it.
Anila (in white) and friends and the birthday cake in full form - friends and relatives came over around 6, stayed until 9 or 10 … a good mix of American and Albanian pop songs going strong throughout the night. As usual I got in more dancing during one night than I would over a span of 2 years back at home!
Esti and I designed posters for guests to write messages to Anila. A little something from home that could trickle into Albanian birthday party protocall? I hope so! Fun for Anila to see people’s well wishes.
One more translation note: Albanians say “U bufsh 100 vjec” to someone on their birthday, which means “may you live another 100 years.” A little something from Albania that just find itself in American birthday party protocall? I hope so for this, too.
