Berat: “the town of a thousand windows”

More information to come - but if you find yourself with some time on your hands, google “Berat, Albania” and check out my home for the next two years!

The city of Berat is said to be 2,000 years old.  Located in southcentral Albania, it is said to be one of the country’s most beautiful cities.  I will be working at a Foreign Langauge School, where I’ll wear many hats … in various ways I will be assisting, teaching, tutoring, coaching, training, and organizing.  More information to come about this, too! I will write more my assignment in three weeks, after I travel to Berat with my counterpart (the teacher whom I’ll be working with directly).  I will stay one week, in order to meet and familiarize myself with my new host family and array of future colleagues at the school.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Two random things about me:

-The Albanian sun is strong and it’s getting very warm here.  I have an increasing mass of freckles on my face.

-I am going to help supervise a group of fifty 12-year-old Albanian students on Sunday.  My oldest host sister is a geography teacher at the local middle school and she asked me to come along on their end-of-the-year excursion.  Wish me luck!
